Romy Cigars?Stephen Petri, Editor
A Credo question.I recently purchased the CREDO model
Rondo Round humidifier from a local cigar store. They advised me
to use CIGAR FRESH 50/50 exclusively in it initially, and routinely thereafter.
Do you agree with this recommendation? Other information given talks
about using distilled water, with the Special Care Solution used periodically.
If you can reply and clear up my confusion, I would appreciate it.
Do I agree with this recommendation? Well, yes and no. Credo type humidifying units use Propylene Glycol (P/G) to create a humidity regulating element. The Cigar Fresh 50/50 is a solution of P/G and distilled water, in a fifty-fifty mix, with a third proprietary ingredient. Credo's Special Care Solution is basicly the same thing. The Credo should come "charged" with P/G from the factory. All that's necessary is for you to add DISTILLED water. Distilled water is free of the contaminants that will "clog" the foam element over time. Do not over fill the unit with the water. A tablespoon at first should suffice. That's the no part. Now for the yes part. The Credo unit should be recharged with fresh P/G every six months or so, and the Cigar Fresh, or any other quality brand, is great for that. Washing out the old solution, by soaking the unit in distilled water over night, then allowing it to air dry for 24 hours before recharging seems to work best. I hope this helps. Remember, do not to overfill the unit, and only use distilled water. Stephen Petri, Editor |
