Cigars and malt whiskey.

Overheard someone at liquor store talking about using a single malt scotch in his humidor. Do you know anything about this, how it is done?

Thank you,
Laurence Dominic

Some people enjoy their cigars flavored with some sort of spirit. This is probably what you overheard being discussed in the liquor store. You can use whatever spirits you prefer, rum, cognac, scotch, bourbon, port, sherry, sambuca, etc.

The process is simple enough. Just place a glass with the liquor of your choice in the humidor along with the cigars you want flavored. Give them a few weeks and presto, you have flavored cigars, and if it's wood lined, a flavored humidor too! This will work with any flavoring agent. You can use vanilla, oranges, apples, pine needles, anything. Be aware everything in the humidor will be flavored.

If you really want to try this I would suggest using a cigar-jar or tuppa-dor to experiment with before you use your expensive humidor.

Personally I prefer drinking my spirits in a glass while I smoke the cigar. If I really want the flavor married I'll occasionally dunk the head in the glass, in between puffs, as I smoke the cigar.
